Now, you may choose to ban spam messages by long-pressing on them when they appear on your lock screen.

Now, you may view alternatives by long-pressing on it without unlocking your phone or opening the app, including blocking the sender immediately. You're even encouraged by WhatsApp to report the bothersome sender.

Additionally, WhatsApp alerts you to unknown numbers by giving you the option to report, ban, or add them. Additionally, you may select whom to block by going to Settings > Privacy > Blocked contacts > Add if you'd like to be more proactive about blocking.
